The aluminum forms a dense aluminum oxide layer on the surface, providing continuous protection even as the zinc layer wears away.
In the industrial materials sector, galvalume steel coil holds a prominent position due to its unique coating structure and superior performance. Its surface features a smooth, flat, silvery-white star-shaped pattern. The alloy coating, composed of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon, serves as a core barrier against corrosion. Produced through a continuous melt-coating process, this material is finding widespread application in a wide range of applications, including construction, home appliances, and automobiles.
Corrosion resistance is its most prominent advantage. The aluminum forms a dense aluminum oxide layer on the surface, providing continuous protection even as the zinc layer wears away. Its comprehensive corrosion resistance is four times that of galvanized material of the same thickness, with a service life of up to 25 years. Furthermore, it offers excellent heat reflectivity and heat resistance, with a heat reflectivity twice that of galvanized steel sheet. It can withstand temperatures up to 315°C, making it suitable for high-temperature environments such as chimneys and ovens. In terms of application scenarios, the construction sector is a major focus, with 30%-35% of products being used for roofs, walls, and modular housing after color coating. Regulations require a coating thickness of 185g/㎡. In home appliance manufacturing, its excellent paint film adhesion and processability are fully utilized in applications ranging from refrigerator backs and air conditioners to LCD frames, allowing for direct painting without pretreatment. It can also be found in mufflers and fuel tanks in the automotive industry, and in granaries and greenhouse piping in the agricultural sector.
Affordability and practicality further enhance its competitiveness. Because the alloy density is lower than pure zinc, aluminum-zinc steel coils can cover a larger area for the same weight, resulting in significant cost advantages. Its processability is similar to that of galvanized sheet, allowing for easy stamping, shearing, and welding, making it an ideal material for balancing performance and cost.
